Dr. María Asunción Longo González is professor of the University of Vigo in the Department of Chemical Engineering, giving classes in the Bachelor and Master of Chemistry, Marine Sciences and Industrial Engineering Programs, in addition she has engaged in doctoral programs and post graduation. Currently is Vice-Rector for Research at the University of Vigo and manager of the Human Resources Program of the Directorate General for R & D of the Galician Regional Government. Dr. María Asunción Longo González has degree in Chemistry and specialization in Industrial Engineering and PhD in Biotechnology. Her research areas are the development of bioprocesses, treating contaminated effluent, bioremediation, production, characterization and applications of enzymes and microbial design and operation of bioreactors. She has published more than forty papers in international scientific journals, book chapters, one patent, eighty conference papers. She has participated in more than thirty research projects funded by companies, seven of which has been the principal researcher.
